The level of ambition of Parties' current Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) is insufficient to ensure that climate change remains within the internationally agreed limits. One way to close this ambition gap is through Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

The EU Taxonomy requires large and capital-market-oriented companies to report on the sustainability of their economic activities. How far this redirects capital flows or changes financing conditions remains unclear. This report outlines approaches to model the Taxonomy’s effectiveness, drawing on modelling from the Pathways project (“Pathways to an EU in 2050 with net-zero GHG emissions”).

This study analyses EU-wide greenhouse gas reduction scenarios for the year 2040. Four scenarios presented by the European Commission, in its Impact Assessment for the 2040 intermediate climate target, are compared against three scenarios developed in the project titled ‘Pathways to an EU in 2050 with net-zero GHG emissions’.

Das Vorhaben „Grundlagenarbeit zur Etablierung eines Labels für inländische Treibhausgaskompensation“ untersucht angesichts der gestiegenen Nachfrage nach inländischen Treibhausgaskompensationsprojekten und Contribution Claims, welche Perspektiven ein inländisches Label für Ausgleichsprojekte hätte, um zur Qualitätssicherung und Transparenz entsprechender Ansätze beizutragen.

Unbemannte Luftfahrtsysteme könnten künftig eine Rolle im Gütertransport spielen. Zur Bewertung potenzieller Auswirkungen auf Mensch und Umwelt wurden zwei Szenarien modelliert und hinsichtlich verkehrlicher, energetischer, akustischer und flächenbezogener Effekte analysiert.

Mit diesem Konzeptpapier legt das Umweltbundesamt eine fundierte Grundlage für eine vorausschauende Umweltpolitik vor. Es zeigt, wie strategische Vorausschau – etwa durch frühzeitige Risikoerkennung oder das Aufzeigen alternativer Zukünfte – dazu beitragen kann, politische Entscheidungen proaktiver, zukunftsrobuster und langfristig tragfähig zu gestalten.

Der wissenschaftliche Bericht zur Umweltbewusstseinsstudie 2024 umfasst vertiefende Analysen der Hauptbefragung, welche im Herbst 2024 mit rund 2.500 Personen durchgeführt wurde.

Der vorliegende Abschlussbericht fasst die Ergebnisse des Forschungsprojektes „Weiterentwicklung europäischer Nachhaltigkeitsberichtsstandards für Unternehmen“ zusammen. Er enthält Hintergrundanalysen und Empfehlungen für die Entwicklung branchenbezogener Standards, Leitlinien und Hilfestellungen für das Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement und die Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung von Unternehmen.
