Boosting Resource Productivity by adopting the Circular Economy
The WRF 2015 will take place from 11th-14th October in Davos, Switzerland. UBA participates in workshops and plenary sessions at the conference.
The World Resources Forum has been organised since 2009 and followed several conferences of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA) before. The international conference WRF takes place every year in Davos or in international cities (recently in Lima and Beijing). For WRF 2015 between 500 and 1,000 participants are expected, including high-level politicians, business leaders, NGO’s and scientists from all over the world.
Key topics of the 2015 conference are:
- Circular economy and decoupling
- Technological innovation, business and finance
- Targets, indicators, and benchmarks for resource use
- Lifestyles and education
Highlights of the conference include the participation of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) as well as a back-to-back meeting of the UNEP International Resource Panel with a presentation of the new report “International Trade in Resources: A Biophysical Assessment Report”. Next to this, high-level scientists and policy makers will discuss the latest G7 Declaration on Resource Efficiency.
The German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) organize within the official conference program the two workshops "Managing the Social and Economic Challenges for the Development of Resource Targets" and "Sustainable Water Use: Target Setting and Political Application".
