The report provides an overview of environmentally harmful subsidies in Germany and makes proposals for their reform or reduction. It focuses on subsidies that have a negative impact on the environmental goods climate, air, soil, water, biodiversity and landscape, as well as on health and the consumption of raw materials.

Germany made a commitment to the conservation of natural resources through the Resource Efficiency Programme (ProgRess). The German Environment Agency supports the implementation of ProgRess through a range of measures, including the production of this report on the use of natural resources in Germany, which is being published for the third time after 2016 and 2018.

Im Zeitraum 2018 bis 2020 führten BMUV/UBA den „Nationalen Wasserdialog" durch.

Deutschland hat sich mit dem Ressourceneffizienzprogramm (ProgRess) zum schonenden Umgang mit natürlichen Ressourcen bekannt. Das Umweltbundesamt unterstützt die Umsetzung von ProgRess unter anderem mit diesem Bericht zur Nutzung natürlicher Ressourcen in Deutschland, der nach 2016 und 2018 zum dritten Mal erscheint.

Im Forschungsvorhaben "Umweltverträgliche Nutzung geothermischer Wärmespeicher" wurde untersucht, welche temperaturbedingten Einflüsse unterirdische thermische Energiespeicher auf die Grundwasserqualität haben. Die Abschätzung der thermischen Auswirkungsräume erfolgte mit numerischen Modellierungen. Temperatureinflüsse auf hydrochemische Prozesse wurde mit analytischen Gleichungen berechnet.

Dans la proposition de règlement concernant une utilisation des produits phytopharmaceutiques compatible avec le développement durable, la Commission européenne concrétise l'objectif de réduction de 50 % des pesticides de la stratégie « Farm-to-fork». Le développement d’une agriculture durable est cadrée par une mise en œuvre juridiquement contraignante de la lutte intégrée.

With the new draft regulation on the "Sustainable Use of Plant Protection Products" (SUR), the European Commission is concretising the pesticide reduction target of 50% by 2030 stipulated in the Farm-to-Fork Strategy. The legally binding implementation of integrated pest management sets a new course for sustainable agriculture.

Endocrine active substances such as steroid hormones gain increasing focus in environmental research as they cause endocrine disruption in aquatic organisms exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations. Data about occurrence and fate of steroid hormones are scare.

Environmental research is detecting ever more pharmaceutical residues in the aquatic environment as analytical methods become increasingly sensitive. The physicochemical properties of some active substances suggest an accumulation in sediment, suspended matter and biota. Hence, these matrices could be interesting alternative matrices for monitoring of pharmaceutical residues in surface waters.
