The KTW Guideline details testing procedures and health standards for plastic materials in contact with drinking water. Separate guidelines have been developed for organic coatings, and lubricants. A guideline dealing with elastomers is currently being prepared.

The KTW Guideline has been notified according to Directive 98/34/EC.The notification number is: 2009/37/D

The reference to the Modeling Guideline allows for certain materials the mathematical determination of the migration instead of the experimental testing.
