Nach Einschätzungen des Umweltprogramms der Vereinten Nationen (UNEP) wird der „Welt-Umwelttag“ (World Environment Day =WED) heute von mehr als 100 Ländern weltweit begangen (jeweils am 5. Juni). Informationen über weltweite Aktivitäten zum Tag der Umwelt können über das Internet (www.unep.org) erhalten werden.
Das UNEP stellt den Tag der Umwelt jedes Jahr unter ein neues Motto:
