Prof. Dr. Claudia Röhl takes on strategic leadership of 'One and Planetary Health' at the German Environment Agency
The German Environment Agency (UBA) has identified 'One and Planetary Health' as an important topic, derived directly from the objectives of the German Federal Government's coalition agreement. The associated strategic project initiative is located directly under the President's office, anchoring it at the highest level of institutional leadership.
The strategic project initiative aims to embed 'One and Planetary Health' concept more deeply into UBA's technical work, while strengthening cross-divisional collaboration within the agency and fostering cross-sectoral, inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation with external partners. For UBA it is important to further develop the ‘One and Planetary Health’ concept to translate it into concrete environmental policy options – with a particular focus on the nexus of environment, health and sustainability. The strategic project initiative makes an important contribution to achieve this goal.
Prof. Dr. Claudia Röhl, environmental health physician and Professor of Environmental and Regulatory Toxicology at the Christiana Albertina University of Kiel, brings extensive experience in interdisciplinary research and science-policy advisory work. She leads this strategic project initiative, shaping its thematic and organisational development in cooperation with the agency's senior leadership.
