Gaming on PCs, consoles and smartphones has gained immense importance in recent years and not just since the COVID-19 pandemic. The research project “Serious Gaming and Sustainability” of the German Environment Agency takes a look approaches to the use of games. The project has developed its own serious game “Little Impacts”.

ERGO: EU research project on hormonally active substances

The ERGO (EndocRine Guideline Optimisation) project aims to improve the identification and regulation of hormonally active substances (endocrine disruptors). It will be shown to what extent the effects of endocrine disruptors in mammals can be extrapolated to non-mammals and vice versa. The thyroid hormone system will be used as the basis for the investigations.

Having a healthy living environment should not be coupled to level of income.

The socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods of many municipalities in Germany suffer from a high number of environment-related health risks. A research project by the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu) is testing key elements of a strategic approach to achieving environmental justice in three pilot municipalities.
