Trifluoroacetate (TFA) is a mobile and persistent substance that is primarily introduced into the water cycle through the degradation of various fluorochemicals and remains in the environment in the long term. TFA can be detected in many water bodies in relatively high concentrations with some regional hotspots.

Mit der Zulassung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln können Risikominderungsmaßnahmen zum Schutz von Oberflächengewässern vor Oberflächenabfluss (Runoff) festgesetzt werden. Ziel dieses Forschungsvorhabens war es, bestehende und potentielle Minderungsmaßnahmen hinsichtlich Reduktionsleistung, Praktikabilität und Kontrollierbarkeit zu bewerten.
Ist der SPEAR-Index zur Abschätzung der Pflanzenschutzmittelbelastung übertragbar auf Standgewässer der Agrarlandschaft?
Ziel des vorliegenden Gutachtens ist es, die Eignung und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten des SPEAR-Indikators für kleine Standgewässer zu überprüfen. Die Auswertungen basieren auf Monitoring-daten zu Makrozoobenthos (MZB) und Pflanzenschutzmittelbelastung des JKI. Der Datensatz umfasst 37 Standgewässer in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Schleswig-Holstein aus den Jahren 2015 und 2016.
Refinement of the P assessment of ionisable substances: Distribution and degradation of anionic, neutral and cationic organic chemicals in water-sediment systems
The criteria for the assessment of PBT substances were developed for neutral organic substances. Many chemicals are, however, charged under environmentally relevant pH conditions. The influence of a charge in molecule on its potential to degrade in the environment is unclear and therefore the research question of this project.
Development of a chemical analysis concept for substances derived from coal and petroleum stream
Petroleum and coal (PetCo) based substances are usually of complex composition. This makes their analytical characterisation challenging. The aim of this project was to develop an analytical concept to be applied on a selection of five PetCo products, to identify those constituents or constituent groups that might be of concern for the environment and human health.

The report summarises and evaluates the current state of knowledge on organic contaminants in polar regions that have become significant concerns because of their persistence, bioaccumulation and toxicity potential. Climate change can also alter the biogeochemical cycling of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and emerging organic contaminants (EOCs).

Persistente organische Schadstoffe – sog. POP (engl. Persistent Organic Pollutants) sind aufgrund ihrer negativen Eigenschaften Gegenstand des Stockholmer Übereinkommens zu POP und des POP-Protokolls. Ziel der internationalen Abkommen ist es, Produktion, Verwendung und Freisetzungen dieser Substanzen soweit wie möglich zu reduzieren bzw. zu beenden.
The use of biocides in animal housings: elaboration of recommendations for the application of biocidal products for veterinary hygiene (PT 03) and for the control of arthropods (PT 18) with regard to the environment
Biocides that are released into the environment can have unintended negative environmental effects. The aim of this project was to analyse the current agricultural practice related to the use of disinfectants (PT 03) and insecticides (PT 18) in animal husbandry.
Strukturwandel zu einer Green Economy
Der Bericht untersucht Prozesse des ökologischen Strukturwandels und arbeitet Gemeinsamkeiten, Hindernisse und Erfolgsfaktoren hinaus. Darauf aufbauend werden Handlungsempfehlungen zur erfolgreichen Gestaltung eines ökologischen Strukturwandels abgeleitet. Am Beispiel dreier Fallstudien werden vertiefte Analysen vorgenommen: Automobilwirtschaft, Basischemie und Re-use von Batterien.
