Companies

You can help save the environment by making your company and its products more eco-friendly – and at the same time score points with your customers and cut your energy and raw materials costs. And we’re the ones who can show you how to do it. For example with an environmental management system, the Blue Angel Eco Label, or the Umweltinnovationsprogramm (environmental innovation program), which offers subsidies to companies that institute environmental innovations. And if you’d like to become a UBA contractor or provider, then you should take a look at our invitations to tender.

Certain substances are harmful to man and the environment. The AskREACH project will raise awareness on Substances of Very High Concern in articles among the European population, retailers and industry. Consumers can use a smartphone app to get information on such substances or send requests for information to suppliers. The European Chemicals Regulation REACH provides the legal framework.

Extending the service life of electrical appliances

Two women in front of a washing machine

The service life of most electrical appliances and equipment is becoming ever shorter – at the expense of the environment. The production of new models requires the consumption of valuable precious metals and energy which are not compensated by innovations such as lower energy use. UBA has drafted policy recommendations that will be fed into the European debate about the Circular Economy Package.

Pace of environmentally harmful subsidies phase-out continues to falter

Euro bank notes

Environmentally harmful subsidies in Germany continue to be in effect at an excessively high level and now total 57 billion euros, says a recent report by the German Environment Agency (UBA). More than 90 percent of these subsidies are a burden on the climate – and are therefore thwarting Germany's implementation of the Paris Agreement.
