CASRI Paris Workshop: from topics to strategic directions
At the Workshop in April 2026 at the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, European EPAs, researchers, funders and policymakers advanced the SRIA, narrowing topics and shifting from broad exploration to strategic positioning, focusing on implementation pathways, transnational cooperation and strengthening sustainability in the European R&I landscape.
CASRI Online January workshop refines SRIA priorities
At the CASRI online workshop on 29 January 2026, Environmental Protection Agencies, partners and stakeholders continued the co-design of the SRIA, building on previous prioritisation work to refine selected topics through plenary discussions, assess their relevance and added value, and support alignment, convergence and preparation for the next in-person meeting in Paris.
Selected topics: milestone towards CASRI SRIA
With the release of “Selected topics for the matchmaking process for environmental and sustainability research and innovation”, CASRI marked a crucial step towards the SRIA, consolidating results from an creation process across Europe to identify R&I priorities, structure them into thematic areas and societal challenges, and support matchmaking, feedback and further alignment among stakeholders.
EIG EPAS follow-up sharpens steps for EPA role in FP10
At the IG EPAS follow-up meeting on 9 December, EPAs reviewed progress since the Cardiff workshop, working to consolidate a joint communication for engagement with the European Commission, align internal coordination and external messaging, and identify next steps to strengthen collaboration, map capacities and support EPA contributions to R&I priorities in view of FP10.
CASRI Online Workshop: Advancing the Co-Design of the SRIA
At the CASRI online workshop on 2 December 2025, Environmental Protection Agencies, R&I programme managers and funders from across Europe advanced the co-design of the SRIA, working to translate identified topics into research and innovation questions while discussing its structure to ensure co-ownership, transnational convergence and future synergy across national and European contexts.
EPAs explore knowledge for competitiveness and sustainability
At the IG EPAS Meeting in Cardiff, European Environmental Protection Agencies discussed how environmental and sustainability research evidence can inform the forthcoming European Competitiveness Fund and Framework Programme 10 (FP10), strengthening the link between competitiveness and sustainability through actionable environmental knowledge.
CASRI gathers experts in Helsinki: aligning R&I priorities
The CASRI workshop, held on 26–27 May 2025 in Helsinki, marked a strategic milestone toward a transnational sustainability R&I agenda. Experts from 14 countries and 47 organisations aligned national insights into shared priorities, reinforcing the role of Environmental Protection Agencies as co-creators of Europe’s environmental R&I landscape.
Report on 14 regional and national Sustainability Research needs
CASRI advanced Environmental and Sustainability Research & Innovation in Europe through national expert workshops in 14 countries and regions. Informed by a desk study and interviews with National Key Stakeholders, these meetings gathered inputs to guide the development of the project’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda: as result a comprehensive report has been compiled.
CASRI’s Co-design Methodology: The Funnelling Approach
The methodology used in CASRI to involve stakeholders in the various phases of the project has been published. The aim of the methodology is the co-creation of a strategic research and innovation agenda by national key stakeholders, environmental protection agencies and research funders in 14 project countries.
