UBA study recommends eco-design requirements for textiles

For the first time, binding requirements for the sustainability of textiles are planned for the European market. The basis for this is the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which came into force in 2024. A study of the German Environment Agency (UBA) has identified five possible product aspects for which requirements could be made and about which consumers should be informed.

Information on sustainability in the textile and fashion industry - this is what the new online platform www.sustainfashion.info by HEJSupport offers, funded by the UBA as part of an Associations project. Different aspects of the sector are highlighted, such as environmental pollution or human rights, and allows people to speak who share their visions for more sustainability.

Blue Angel: New requirements for mobile phones and textiles

The catalogues of criteria of the Blue Angel for textiles and mobile phones has been overhauled and approved by the Environmental Label Jury. Changes include details and additional requirements of the working conditions at the manufacturing site. Manufacturers may now apply for the ecolabel on their products.
