The Baltic Sea Action Plan – Modelling of Eutrophication Aspects

The project used high-resolution spatial and temporal simulations of the ERGOM-MOM 3D ecosystem model to review existing nutrient reduction targets for the Western Baltic Sea. Scenario simulations were used to assess the effects of reduction measures on improving water quality. In addition, the simulation results were used to evaluate the spatial extent, temporal duration and variability of past and current seasonal oxygen depletion areas. The publication is aimed at authorities and research institutes involved in modelling eutrophication.
