Armenia is located in the Caucasus Hotspot and possesses exceptional biodiversity with high endemism. Dilijan National Park is threatened by climate change and anthropogenic pressures. The project supports the nomination of Armenia's first Biosphere Reserve (BR) for the UNESCO MAB programme. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and local stakeholders, the nomination dossier, a management plan, and foundational documents are being developed. Through participatory planning processes, strengthening of governance structures, and identification of financing mechanisms, the prerequisites for a sustainable and functional BR are being established.
