The International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIC) develops and implements Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (BREF) across various industry sectors in the Republic of Kazakhstan, aligned with European environmental standards. The German Environment Agency (UBA) organised a study tour in Germany for Kazakhstani experts on BAT and BREF development in waste management. Technical site visits covered waste treatment facilities including mechanical-biological treatment plants, biological treatment for organic waste, and chemical-physical treatment for hazardous waste. A workshop on EU BREF development and implementation practices complemented the visits.
