The project promotes cooperation on biodiversity conservation and protected area management between policymakers, businesses and civil society. In the transboundary pilot regions of Jablanica-Shebenik (North Macedonia and Albania) and Prokletije-Albanian Alps (Albania and Montenegro), the capacity of local and national authorities to manage protected areas will be enhanced. The aim is to meet the requirements of the Bern Convention and establish recognised protected areas. The effectiveness of protected area management will be improved, with a particular focus on the Natura 2000 network, through policy recommendations and by outlining approaches for harmonising transboundary management. At the regional conference, 'Green Belt Balkan', relevant stakeholders will share experiences and project results.
