Indicator: Final energy productivity

A graph shows final energy productivity from 1990 to 2019. It has been rising by 60 percent since 1990. Final energy consumption and gross domestic product are also shown.

Energy efficiency can be measured using the indicator ‘final energy productivity’.Between 1990 and 2019 final energy productivity increased by approximately 60 %.The Federal Government aims to increase final energy productivity by 2.1 % every year.Between 2008 and 2019 the annual average growth has been 1.3 %. Indicator: National Welfare Index

A graph shows the national welfare index (NWI) and gross domestic product (2000 = 100) for the years between 1991 and 2018. Since 2000, the NWI fell by 1.2 percent, while GDP rose by 26.3 percent.

Gross domestic product (GDP) measures the economic performance of an economy, but does not reflect social welfare.The national welfare index (NWI) includes overall 20 activities that raise and diminish welfare.The NWI reached its peak in 1999 and declined afterwards until 2005.
