We are pleased to inform you that the German Environment Agency (UBA), together with the European Environment Agency (EEA), will host the high-level event “Insights from Europe’s Environment: Resilient and Innovative Circular Economy” on 21 April, 2026. The event and the following networking reception will take place from 16:30 to 18:30 (CET) at the European Commission Representation in Berlin.

Pressure on natural resources is increasing, while geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties are compounding the challenges facing Europe. In this context, the transition to a circular economy is more important than ever, as it can help reduce resource dependencies, strengthen economic resilience, and mitigate environmental impacts.

We cordially invite you to a high-level event, which will present the latest findings from the European Environment Agency’s report “Europe’s Environment”, alongside perspectives on German and European environmental policy.
The programme will include:

  • A presentation of key findings from the EEA report
  • A high-level panel discussion on “Circular Economy for Resilience: Securing Critical Raw Materials while Reducing Pressures on the Environment”

Together with Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency, Leena Ylä-Mononen, Executive Director of the European Environment Agency and representatives from politics, business, academia, and civil society, we will explore how circular approaches can help secure critical raw materials, strengthen competitiveness, and protect the environment.

The conference language is English.
