The BERN Model: Bioindication for Ecosystem Regeneration towards Natural conditions

The eutrophying effects resulting from increased deposition rates of reactive nitrogen to ecosystems are a major problem in the context of long range transported air pollution. Therfore, one focus of the related effects oriented research is to improve knowledge on time- and area-depending effects for modelling purposes. The presented BERN-model allows for the first time to model changes of major plant communities as bioindicators as a result of change of soil parameters.
