A total of 288 entries were received this year in the four competition categories of Product, Service, Concept and Young Talent. 137 projects have advanced beyond the preselection stage and were presented to the jury at the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.
Parliamentary State Secretary Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter at the Federal Environment Ministry expressed her admiration for the quality and broad spectrum covered by the submissions: “The nominated projects are good evidence that ecological product design is gaining in popularity among designers. It is remarkable that the diversity of the submissions has continued to grow in the fourth year of the award.”
Vice-President Thomas Holzmann of the Federal Environment Agency emphasised: “I am particularly glad that we have received a record number of submissions from prestigious companies this year, which is proof to us that the Federal Ecodesign Award is also hitting home in industry.”
All the nominations for the 2015 Federal Ecodesign Award are listed on the Award’s own website. Awardees and nominees from last year are on display in an exhibition at the Designers’ Open in Leipzig on 23-25 October.
The Federal Ministry for Environment and the Federal Environment Agency have awarded the Federal Ecodesign Award every year since 2012 with the cooperation of the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ).
