Closing Remarks
Ilka Hirt is Head of Directorate Chemical Safety, Environment and Health, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany (BMUKN). The Directorate is responsible for the national, european and international policy on chemicals as well as health aspects of environment and climate action. From 2022 until 2026 Ilka Hirt was Deputy Director General for International Policy which coordinates the bilateral cooperation of the BMUKN with partner countries as well as multilateral processes, including the United Nations, G7 and G20. Prior to this role, she was Head of Division for EU Coordination at the Federal Environment Ministry for five years. Before starting at the BMU in 2008, Ilka Hirt worked for the French Ministry of Finance and the Environment Ministry of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. She is a fully qualified lawyer and graduate of the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA).
