The UBA was hosting a Side Event titled “Mitigation around the Globe” at the 19th UN World Climate Conference in Warsaw on 19 November.

This Side Event, which UBA’s President Flasbarth was opening, illustrated how scientific research can be transferred to policy makers. It presented the results of two UBA-sponsored research projects which are closely related to the topics discussed at the climate negotiations. A session with a theoretical focus looked at the example of the steel industry to illustrate how global sectoral targets can contribute to reducing emissions.

The second part of the Event presented the climate protection potentials and also hindrances in emerging economies, based on six countries.

The target group of the Side Event was representatives from politics and government and civil society.
