Towards a standardised approach to Regional Enviromental Management Plans in the Area
The International Seabed Authority (ISA) aims to develop Regional Environmental Management Plans (REMPs) in marine regions where there is an interest in deep-sea mining. The REMPs will be a sectoral management tool and offer the opportunity to implement an ecosystem-based management approach.
The benefit sharing regime of the International Seabed Authority
The member states of the International Seabed Authority are currently negotiating a comprehensive code for deep seabed mining in areas beyond the limits of national jurisdiction. This study aims to take a holistic approach to the problems of equitably balancing the economic and financial benefits that may arise under the law of the sea.

The International Seabed Authority, ISA, controls the areas beyond national jurisdiction and its mineral deposits and has the obligation to effectively protect the marine environment from the potentially harmful effects of exploration and extraction activities. What is required is appropriate mining techniques and that tests are carried out to ensure that there will be no adverse effects.

Optimisation potential with regard to the processing and recycling of waste oil
On the one hand, the research project updated the calculation basis of the model used by the Federal Environment Agency to calculate waste oil flows, and on the other hand, analyses of waste oils were carried out to examine their reprocessability.

Integrated Assessment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Transformation Pathways towards a Resource-Efficient and Greenhouse-Gas-Neutral Germany
The “SDG Pathways” research project used the iSDG model, which was adapted to German data, to develop an assessment approach for modeling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ambitious climate and resource scenarios up to 2050. The results show that an ambitious climate and resource policy improves the SDG targets overall.
Information about Techniques to consider in the Determination of BAT for the Intensive Rearing of Cattles
In the project techniques have been presented that can be ‘best available techniques’ (BAT) in cattle farming according to the German Immission Control Act criteria for BAT. The techniques are suitable for reducing environmental impacts.

Efficiency display of space heaters
This study develops recommendations on how efficiency indicators can be considered and designed as part of the amendment of the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) No 813/2013 on space heaters and combination heaters. Efficiency indicators should be used for the early detection of efficiency problems in heating appliances as well as efficiency-reducing defects.
