When doing yard work, bear in mind that less is more.

If you have a vegetable garden, avoid the use of chemical pesticides.

Consider whether you’re aiming for a high yield, or if you’re merely seeking to grow healthy food for you and your family. Accordingly, keep mineral-fertilizer use to an absolute minimum or use none at all. Never use peat, as it doesn’t last long and is simply a waste of money. Use compost instead, either from your own yard or from a regional organization. Many German municipalities provide their citizens with compost free of charge.
