Resources conferences
Resources conferences in Berlin on 12-13 November and 14 November 2012
The consumption of natural resources already far exceeds the earth’s capacity for regeneration. Careful handling and efficient use of natural resources will become a key competence of sustainable societies. Increasing resource efficiency can reduce pollution and waste, strengthen competitiveness, create new jobs and ensure sustainable employment.
In support of the EU Commission's "Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe" from September 2011 and the "German Resource Efficiency Programme" (ProgRess) adopted by the German Federal Cabinet in February 2012, the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) hosted the first European Resources Forum (ERF) in Berlin on 12-13 November 2012, followed by the National Resources Forum (NRF) on 14 November 2012.
The objective of both conferences was to discuss implementation steps, approaches and measures necessary for sustainable resource use, to promote alliances between stakeholders and inspire the set up networks.
With more than 750 participants from over 40 countries including more than 60 top-level speakers and moderators from Germany and abroad - the conferences were a great success. The next ERF/NRF will be held on 10-12. November 2014. A review to the conferences in 2012 can be found on the conference websites.
