Digitalisation as engine of transformation for a green economy

Issues related to the green economy have largely been considered separately from digitalisation in the past. A research project is now investigating the application areas and transformation potential of big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital platforms for a green economy.

International Mountain Day 2018: Sustainable Alps

December 11th is the designated International Mountain Day. The day was designated by the UN to show the important role of mountain regions for sustainable development. In line with this, UBA has published a background paper describing the Alpine region on its way to becoming a model region for green economy.

The range of occupations and qualifications required is as diverse as the economy itself. The trend towards more environmental protection in professional training can be observed in many industries. In addition to the respective expert knowledge, soft skills are often important for environmental professionals, such as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and to be open to new ideas.
