National collaboration
Projects coordinated by the CCE in order to support the work of the ICP Modelling and Mapping.
The steady CCE Status Reports focus mainly on modelling and mapping the impacts of atmospheric deposition of Nitrogen and Sulphur and the progress in dynamic modelling. Reports until 2017 have been published by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health (RIVM), where the CCE was located from 1990 until 2017. The CCE Status Report 2025 is currently in progress.
Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for all living organisms. The use of mineral and organic nitrogen fertilizers to increase yields is therefore common practice in agriculture. Careful and needs-based application is crucial. Excess nitrogen can pollute water and land ecosystems and adversely affect the climate, air quality, and biodiversity.
