A challenge in waste water treatment: ecologically safe and economic sewage sludge disposal

Two English-language technical guides are now available to countries where modernisation of facilities for waste water treatment and sewage sludge management is imminent, e.g. to comply with EU requirements.
The guides provide an overview of the best available techniques and support operators of such facilities in decision-making on investments and in matters of organisation. The documents were drawn up as a follow-up to an UBA advisory assistance project. Their objective is for as many countries as possible to achieve environmentally friendly and resource-efficient treatment and recycling of sewage sludge.
The UBA’s motto, For our environment (“Für Mensch und Umwelt”), sums up our mission pretty well, we feel. In this video we give an insight into our work.
