Joint press release with the Bundesverband Boden e.V.

Soil as fascinating and diverse as never before

New look for Bodenwelten website and updated information

What has soil got to do with my favourite pizza? Where did the soil come from that we stand on today, on which we build our homes, which collects rainwater and supplies us our food? Is every type of soil able to do this? How much soil do we need to live? The answers to these and many other questions can be answered by clicking here: www.bodenwelten.de. Jochen Flasbarth, President of the Federal Environment Agency, says, "It's worth paying a visit to 'Bodenwelten'. Soil is much more than just the dirt under our feet."

As of July, the Internet portal 'bodenwelten.de' features newly designed pages and lots of additional information. The site is operated by Bundesverband Boden e.V. (BVB) and has been a nationally recognised learning and information platform on soil matters for 10 years. The site is visited by up to 10,000 users every month. There is something worthwhile for everyone – whether the allotment holder, home-builder, teacher, farmer, hiking guide, family or soil scientist.

The portal has been totally revamped and made more efficient with the expert support of the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA). The cooperative effort of the BVB and UBA is impressive: in addition to the tried and trusted, the site features new topics such as 'soil and energy' and 'soil and climate'.

The 15-member volunteer editorial committee is continuously updating the site, which also features the social media Twitter and Facebook.
