The goal of this study is to provide background information for the determination of Best Available Techniques (BAT) with respect to integrated environmental protection within the electric steelmaking industry to support the Technical Working Group Iron and Steel (TWG, cf. below). It gives information on the environmental performance of modern German electric steelmaking plants and identifies the impact of particular environmental protection techniques and also of relevant production techniques on this performance.
