As the UBA had proposed, nine chemicals have been added to list of Substances of Very High Concern in accordance with the European Chemicals Regulation (REACH)

24.06.2013

One of these is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which can be found in all-weather clothing and has long been considered harmful to the environment. Upon customer request, merchants must disclose whether a product contains one of the 144 chemicals now featured on the List in concentrations above 0.1 per cent. In a next step, Germany and Norway will propose a restriction on the production and application of PFOA that is valid throughout the EU. This would also affect imported products.
