Abstract

In Jordan and Egypt, municipal waste is still primarily landfilled, which can contain up to 50 Percent or more green waste and food waste. This biodegradable waste forms methane in the landfill body, which is harmful to the climate, and the emissions of landfill gas contribute significantly to global warming. Both countries are looking for strategic approaches to better manage biodegradable waste.
