Effect studies of new hormone active substances on aquatic snails Potamopyrgus antipodarum

The aim of the project was to gain new insights into the effects of progestins and glucocorticoids on aquatic invertebrates, in particular water snails. For this, two medicinal substances for human use were tested, Dienogest and Dexamethasone. The influence of both substances on the reproduction of Potamopyrgus antipodarum was investigated using the 28-day reproduction test according to OECD TG 242. The results will be used to establish a tailored evaluation concept for environmental risks for progestins and glucocorticoids.

For reasons of transparency, both the replicate based original data sheets and the statistical evaluations can be downloaded (excel; ToxRat® Professional 3.3.1).
