The papers prepared by the working group address, amongst other things, the interdependence of ⁠sustainability⁠ and security policy in the light of the crisis in Ukraine, necessary measures in both energy and industrial policy, as well as proposals for sustainable recovery.

Three fundamental insights are to be highlighted:

1. Failures in sustainability policy may increase risks in security policy. Greater efforts are required regarding climate neutrality and sustainability, particularly in countries of the Global North.
2. Measures used for short-term crisis management should also help progress medium and long-term goals regarding climate neutrality and sustainability.
3. All our social systems must be more robust and resilient as more crises are likely to happen in the future.
