Installation of BESTAL

1. First, create a directory in which BESTAL is to be installed. 
It can have any name; in the following, it will be referred to 
as <bst>.

2. Download the following archive from the website of the
German Federal Environment Agency and copy it to the directory 
<bst>:

bst-<version>-<system>_en.zip

<version> refers to the version number to which the package
refers (e.g. 1.3.0), and <system> refers to the operating system
on which the programs can be executed ("windows" or "linux").

To use BESMAX, the archives

bst-1.0-plumes13.zip
bst-1.0-plumes23.zip
bst-1.0-plumes33.zip

are required in addition (total size about 1 GiB).

3. Unzip the archives to directory <bst>, while retaining the 
paths specified in the archives. The structure in the directory 
<bst> will then have the following form (under Windows):

\doc
\add
\jar
\jar\maxima
(\jar\plumes)
\jre
\log
Besmin.exe
Besmax.exe

This completes the installation. No changes are made to the 
system or entries in the registry. To uninstall, simply delete 
the directory <bst>.
