Workshop „New ISO-guidance for managing water with ISO 14001“

Internationaler Workshop des Bundesumweltministeriums (BMU) und des Umweltbundesamtes (UBA) in Berlin. Der Workshop findet auf Englisch statt.

Water is essential for all living beings. Maintaining water quality and quantity is therefore crucial for sustainable development. However, ongoing pollution and overuse of water bodies, which is exacerbated by climate change and continuing growth of industrial and agricultural production, leads to enhanced water stress worldwide. This highlights the need for action to enhance sustainable water management in public and private organizations.

In this context, we are pleased to invite you on behalf of the German Environment Agency and the Federal Ministry for the Environment to the international workshop:

New ISO guidance for managing water with ISO 14001

4th of June 2019, 10:00 - 15:45

Federal Ministry for the Environment, Stresemannstraße 128-130, 10117 Berlin, Room 1.001

The aim of the workshop is to discuss scope and content of a potential new ISO guidance standard. This new standard is expected to help organizations of all sizes and sectors to effectively address water-related environmental impacts. During the workshop experts in- and outside of the ISO community will discuss how an environmental management system can be used for this purpose. The workshop will follow an interactive format and combine keynotes, presentations and sessions for open discussion.

The event is connected to a new series of environmental management guidance standards currently under development (ISO 14002). The series is going to provide targeted guidance and examples for organizations that want to apply their ISO 14001 environmental management system to a specific environmental topic area. ISO 14002 is organized as a series of parts, each focusing on a different environmental topic area. While Part 1 (ISO 14002-1) provides generic guidance, Part 2 (ISO 14002-2) is intended to focus on the environmental topic area “water”.

The event is free of charge but seats are limited. If you would like to participate please register until May 14.

The event is organized by Ecologic Institute gGmbH on behalf of the German Environment Agency.
