As of today, projects can once again apply for the “Blue Compass” federal award – the highest state award in Germany for projects to adapt to the consequences of climate change. The award is aimed at local authorities, private and municipal companies, educational and research institutions as well as clubs, associations and foundations. A total of around 750 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent was emitted in Germany in 2022. This is 9.6 million tonnes or 1.3 per cent less than in 2021 and 40 per cent less than in 1990. read more
Revenue from the European and national emissions trading system in Germany rose to a new high of over 18 billion euros in 2023. Compared to the previous record year of 2022 with revenue of 13 billion euros, this represents growth of around 40 per cent. read more
