The 8th Global Nitrogen Conference of the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI 2020) follows up on the previous nitrogen conferences that have been held since 1998. This year’s theme is “Nitrogen and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. Most of the SDGs are closely related to the nitrogen cycle.

Sustainable nitrogen management is therefore a key factor in the approach to handling ecological and societal problems at global level. Participants can look forward to a program featuring distinguished speakers, interesting conference formats, poster presentations, and excellent opportunities to engage in networking both within and beyond the community of nitrogen experts. The conference topics are

  • Sustainable agriculture, food and nutrition systems, in relation to effective nitrogen management
  • threats for health, environment and biodiversity and solutions to combat these nitrogen-driven effects
  • Observations of global challenges, nitrogen fluxes and interactions between different drivers and pressure
  • closing the nitrogen cycle through innovations for sustainable nitrogen management and integrated nitrogen science and policy approaches
