The commissions at the Federal Environment Agency are bodies that support both the federal government and the Federal Environment Agency with their professional advice and expertise. Experts with the latest and best possible scientific knowledge in various areas of ecological and health related environmental protection have been brought together to form these advisory commissions.
Also situated at the Federal Environment Agency is the Advisory Council on Procedures and Methods in Soil Testing (FBU). The Advisory Council is a selected group of experts at federal and state level, as well as at testing institutions in sectors relevant to the economy’s sectors affected by the Federal Soil Protection Act and the Federal Soil and Contaminated Sites Ordinance. The FBU constitutes with annex 1 of the ordinance as designated by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature, Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The Federal Environment Agency is the council’s administrative organ. The FBU compiles knowledge about advanced soil testing and analysis methods and issues recommendations.
