The Central Division (Division Z; Z for Zentral) fulfils classical administrative tasks at the Federal Environment Agency, with a multitude of services. This includes personnel and budget, planning and organisational tasks, facility management, legal service, administrative management of research and other projects, and the largest environmental library in German-speaking countries. The Central Division assists in the merging of technical responsibility with responsibility for financial and human resources within the Agency. Its aim is to help the Agency as a whole work more rationally and effectively, in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement. The Central Division is also responsible for human resource development.
