Renewable energies - the figures

What is the share of renewable energies in final energy consumption?

Renewable energies have undergone rapid growth in Germany. Their share in final energy consumption reached 13.7 per cent in 2014. The electricity sector is the main driver behind this development with renewables already providing 27.4 per cent of electricity consumption (2014).

More information on renewables is available from the working group on renewable energy statistics (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Erneuerbare-Energien-Statistik). This working group independently calculates the progress and current status of renewable energies in Germany, the EU and worldwide.

How much CO2 is avoided through renewable energies?

Thanks to the use of renewable energies 154 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents were saved in Germany in 2014. For more information see our flyer "Emission Balance of Renewable Energy Sources in 2014".
